I'm coming home
I'm coming home

Two years. It had been two horribly painful years. She didn’t understand how she had managed to stay sane, but (Name) suspected it had something to do with the fact that she still quite couldn’t believe that her husband had gone off to fight a couple of years ago.
As she sat, veritably alone, drinking coffee at the dinner table, (Name) thought back to how it had been when he left so long ago.
It had been okay for a while, she hadn’t been incredibly terrified for him for the first year he had been gone. Of course, Alfred hadn’t exactly been in the war zone, but she had still worried, though not too much. He wrote her every week, and as long as she knew her husband was okay, (Name) was fine.
And then the letters stopped coming.

Tell the world I'm coming home

(Name) sighed, running her finger over the rim of her coffee mug. She could remember how gut-wrenchingly terrifying it had been when Alfred had gone weeks and months without sending word of how he was. The young woman had been a flurry of nervousness, energy drinks, and fear.
It had been horrible when the flow of letters stopped.
That’s what she thought, at least. It turned out that Alfred was alive and well, but he had been called to fight in the, well, area of discord. He couldn’t send mail nearly as often. Knowing that he was fine relieved a small part of (Name)’s worries, but not much. He was still in the Marines, and he was fighting.
Nothing could make (Name) believe he was safe until he was back home, with her, where he (as she believed) should be.
Still, she was calmed down enough to begin rationally thinking and functioning like a normal human being again.
The 24 year old woman was lost in her thoughts when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it!” She exclaimed out of habit, trailing off when she realized Alfred wasn’t there to fight her on who would answer the door.

Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday

(Name) pulled open the door, and upon seeing who was at the door, nearly dropped her coffee mug in shock.
A young albino marine, probably in his early twenties, stood outside her door with a piece of paper in his hands.
“Mrs. Jones?” He asked, looking antsy as he expected her to burst into tears. (Name)’s eyes watered, but she nodded. “Y-Yes?”
“I’m Gilbert Beilschmidt, if you need anything…” He trailed off awkwardly, handing her the paper. (Name) took it, expecting the worst. Any hope she had left was shattered when she saw the American Military Insignia at the top of the letter. Her tears began falling as she unfolded it, blurring her vision and momentarily rendering her unable to read the words boldly scrawled across the page.
“L-look… up… sweet-sweetheart.” (Name) whispered, visibly confused. “What?”

I know my kingdom awaits and they've forgiven my mistakes
I'm coming home, I'm coming home

“It means look up, I’m guessing.”
(Name) gave a small gasp. She would know that voice anywhere. Following the demands of the piece of paper in her hands, she looked up to find herself staring the man she loved in the eyes.
The tears ran freely now, down both of their faces. (Name) launched herself at Alfred and buried her face in his uniform. “Thanks Gilbert, I think I got this now.” Alfred muttered, signaling his friend to leave.
“Alfie,” (Name) sobbed “I missed you so much!”
“And I you.” Alfred mumbled into her ear.
After a moment holding each other and nothing else, the couple pulled apart. A second later Alfred pressed his lips to her forehead.
“(Name), I’m home.”

Coming Home (Soldier!America x Reader)
You sighed loudly, as you polished a glass that was already shining. You missed him more and more every day. Sure you loved your job as a late night bartender, and you had some great friends. But without Alfred .....
You smirked and rolled your eyes as a pair of arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you against a chest. “Francis” you sighed, setting down the glass you’d been polishing, “How many times have I told you, I’m not interested.”
“Francis?” A familiar voice rumbled into your ear. “I might have to have a talk with him later. He must be one messed up dude to hit on my girlfrie

"And the blood will dry
Underneath my nails
And the wind will rise up
To fill my sails
So you can doubt
And you can hate
But I know
No matter what it takes"
Alfred grit his teeth as the ground underneath him shook violently. Looking through the scope of the rifle, he lined up the cross hairs on a man firing a machine gun towards him and his men. The man kept ducking behind obstacles and then shooting rapidly into the area Alfred was stationed. As Alfred was about to pull the trigger for he had a clear shot, his heart stopped. The man pulled a small boy no more then 7 years old in front of him to use as a shie

"I'm sorry sir, but what did you say?"
(Y/n) stared at her commanding officer, Sergeant Major Milhoune, her eyes wide with both hope and disbelief. She was sitting on her cot, of which was located at the infamous Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan. She had been sent there a few weeks ago from where she had previously been stationed, a small camp in the mist of the warzone.
She had been sent away from the front lines when she had dislocated both her knee and her hip, although she had expected that she would have been sent back after the muscles an tendons had healed.
